Kapaapi Communities Sue Total Energies and Government Over Forced Evictions

Community members from Kapaapi Parish in Hoima District have filed a case in the High Court of Uganda against TotalEnergies E & P Uganda B.V., the Hoima RDC, and the Government of Uganda over violent forced evictions, serious human rights violations including sexual violence, and renewed threats of eviction in 2026.

The case seeks urgent court protection, compensation, and accountability for the destruction of homes and livelihoods that occurred in 2023 in violation of a previous court order
